Dr. John Kingsley is a vascular surgeon and now full time phlebologist from Birmingham, Alabama. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Phlebology, and for most of his career he maintained board certifications in both vascular surgery and general surgery.

 

He completed the initial research in intra-operative autotransfusion as a surgical resident, research leading to the development of cell saving technology used in autotransfusion throughout the world today.

 

As a surgeon in private practice, he developed and published quality of care guidelines for office based surgery in the U.S., and became President of the Society of Office Based Surgeons.

 

He published and presented more than 100 scientific presentations to societies throughout the world, including many to the Australasian College of Phlebology beginning in 2006. Since 2002 his focus and presentations have been the specialty of phlebology. He was a keynote speaker to the Asian Chapter of the UIP in Kyoto, Japan in 2005, and he annually trains physicians of Japan in modern phlebology methods.

 

He was the President of the Alabama Vascular Society for 2009 to 2011, and is on the editorial board for the publication Vein Therapy News. Dr. Kingsley is President of the Alabama Phlebology Training Institute, a preceptor training program in the U.S.

 

He has participated in the introductory and complex training of more than 350 physicians and allied staff from around the world, including Australia, Japan, Canada, London, Dubai, and nearly every state in the U.S.

 

He is the founder and sponsor of the annual seminar “Phlebology Colorado”, a successful and popular case presentation seminar convened in January of each year in the ski resort of Telluride, Colorado. Dr. Kingsley is a frequent attendee and speaker for the Australasian College of Phlebology annual meeting.
