Professor Alun H Davies is Professor of Vascular Surgery, running a busy clinical and academic department based at the Charing Cross Hospital, Imperial College, London. He trained in Cambridge, Oxford, Plymouth, Boston (USA) and Bristol, prior to taking up a Consultant appointment in Charing Cross in 1994. Professor Davies is the Editor-in-Chief of Phlebology and the Venous Times Magazine, Past-President of the European Venous Forum, President UK Venous Forum at RSM, Member of the American Venous Forum, the American College of Phlebology, Vascular Surgical Society of Great Britain and Ireland, European Society of Vascular Surgery, UIP. He has previously been a Hunterian Professor at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. In venous disease his main interests are quality of life measures, outcome assessment, clinical trials, endovenous techniques, vein wall biology and deep venous disease. He has lectured in many parts of the world. He has written, edited and co-authored 25 books, 63 chapters and 231 peer-reviewed publications.
